CHI board members don’t just govern. They go into the field, build relationships with house corporation officers, and make a direct and documented difference in the health of Sigma Chi chapter houses. If you have the professional background and the personal motivation to do that, we want to talk to you.
CHI board members serve as governance fiduciaries, setting strategy, overseeing finances, and holding the organization accountable to its commitments. They also serve as field ambassadors, conducting structured relationship visits to the house corporations CHI serves, in connection with property inspections, throughout the year. The second role is what makes CHI different from any other nonprofit board you’ve served on.
Each year, CHI board members conduct relationship visits to house corporations in connection with property inspections. You are not the inspector, a third-party professional handles the property. You are the CHI representative who sits down with HC officers, asks the right questions, and connects them to the resources they need. It is the most direct and impactful thing a CHI board member does.
We are not looking for the most impressive resume. We are looking for the right combination of professional expertise and personal motivation.
CHI’s founding leadership is transitioning. The strategy is set, the infrastructure is being built, and the board members recruited in the next 12 months will be the first class to join an organization that has made explicit, binding commitments about what it does and how it does it. They will inherit a more professional CHI than their predecessors joined, and they will be asked to raise the standard further.
This is not a search for board members to fill chairs. It is a search for brothers who want to matter.
