House corporations are managed by committed Sigma Chi volunteers, brothers with full-time careers and no professional housing training, managing six- to seven-figure real estate operations without consistent access to expertise.
In ten years, CHI has assessed properties across the system, preserved chapter houses that would otherwise have been lost, launched the House Corporation Academy (HCA), the only formal HC officer training program in the Sigma Chi system, and established a lending capability that has kept more than one chapter alive, in partnership with the Grand Trustees.
Every chapter house is an asset worth protecting for every brother who will ever live there.
Every interaction demonstrates that CHI has done this before and knows how to help.
CHI is useful only if HC officers can reach it. We are the first call, not the last resort.
We measure what we do and report what we find — to our board, our funder, and the HCs we serve.
Justin has worked with Sigma Chi continuously since graduating from Louisville in 2013. Through his roles with RMF and CHI he’s built a wide base of institutional knowledge and a strong network of committed brothers. Since CHI’s inception, he’s developed a clear, firsthand understanding of the realities and constraints of today’s fraternal housing landscape. He’s committed to helping others make meaningful progress — grounded in reality, aligned with risk reduction, and positioned for long‑term sustainability.
Art Berg is an Ohio University graduate (Class of 1982) and serves on CHI’s Member Services team. Art supports house corporation officers on property oversight matters and works closely with CHI staff and leadership on property improvement and preservation initiatives across the portfolio.
Andrew Hillmann is a Murray State University graduate (Class of 1987) and serves as CHI’s Property Services Coordinator. In this role, Andrew works directly with house corporation officers on property inspections, capital planning support, and ongoing property oversight across the CHI portfolio. He is a frequent point of contact for HCs navigating maintenance, vendor, and readiness questions.
CHI’s work is made possible through the support of the Risk Management Foundation, Sigma Chi’s loss protection and risk management entity. RMF’s investment is grounded in a direct relationship: house corporations that are better governed, better maintained, and better supported produce fewer claims and a more stable portfolio.
CHI exists at the intersection of fraternal service and financial prudence. The work we do for HC volunteers is also the work that protects RMF’s portfolio.
